JUST IN: Gunmen kill APC youth leader in Enugu

A former councillor and All Progressives Congress(APC) youth leader in Igbo-Eze South local government area of Enugu State, Hon. Lucky Idoko, has been shot dead by gunmen.

Idoko, who represented Unadu community as councillor, was allegedly murdered in the village on Saturday while going about his business on a motorbike.

Though details of his alleged assassination are still sketchy, reports said Idoko, who is also chairman of Vigilante group in his community, was allegedly shot while the passenger he conveyed on his motorbike at the time of the attack escaped unhurt.

A source who spoke under anonymity told our correspondent: ”The APC chieftain was going about his business in his hometown in Unadu when the incident happened.

“What we don’t know is why he should be killed at this critical political moment. I don’t also know if he has problem with his security outfit of which he is the head.”

Enugu Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe confirmed the incident.

“Yes, the command has launched an investigation into the case of the alleged shooting and murder of one Lucky Idoko ‘m’, at Unadu community of Igbo-Eze South LGA, in the afternoon hours of 08/10/2022, by yet-to-be-identified armed hoodlums.

“Further development will be communicated, please,” Ndukwe said
