Omituntun 2.0: A Focus On Seyi Makinde’s Infrastructural Revolution Road Infrastructure By Oluwole Oludamilola-ALA
May 28, 2023, marked the end of Omituntun 1.0, and the beginning of the Roadmap for the Accelerated Development of Oyo State (2019 – 2023), tagged Omituntun 2.0. The 2.0 Roadmap for Sustainable Development of Oyo State (2023 – 2027), is an offshoot of Omituntun 1.0 – ideated by Governor Seyi Makinde, with a target towards the expansion of the state’s economy and enabling it to retain its pace-setter status.
In less than one year of Omituntun 2.0, the people of Oyo State have continued to enjoy the fresh air of meaningful development as envisioned by the government of Seyi Makinde through the completion of three road projects, which include the Agodi Gate – Old Ife Road, Alakia- Adegbayi Road, Onipepeye Under Pass and Ido – Omi-Apata Road, while some critical projects have reached an advanced stage.
One of the projects that has received adequate attention in both Omituntun 1.0 and Omituntun 2.0 is the dualisation of the 12.3 kilometers Challenge to Odo Ona-Elebu-Owode-Apata road, which was recently commissioned by the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, is another promise kept by the present administration in the pacesetter state.
The newly completed road has not only created the platform for the expansion of business for the people but has also further facilitated the rapid development of the area.
Another critical fact is that despite the dwindling economy coupled with the unstable price of essential commodities, one would salute the governor for being proactive and giving priority to road construction that is targeted at the growth of the state’s economy.
It is also worthy of note and commendation that the appointment of an erudite scholar and an Omoluabi per excellence, Professor Dahud Kehinde Shangodoyin, to man the affairs of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport has positively projected the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde as the real architect of the modern Oyo State.
Without necessarily singing their praises, all commissioners under Governor Seyi Makinde have so far demonstrated good character and a high sense of humility, but the exceptional character of Prof. Shangodoyin, coupled with his native intelligence, distinguishes him among others.
Before the second year of Omituntun 2.0 ends, the state will take on a new look as some ongoing infrastructural and road projects are expected to be completed for the use of the people of Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
No doubt, Engr. Seyi Makinde has demonstrated in many ways to the people of Oyo State that he is a servant leader who puts the interests of the masses at heart.
