Bayo Lawal’s popularity rattles APC, Accord in Atisbo LG

The growing popularity of Oyo PDP Deputy Governorship candidate, Barrister Adebayo Abdul raheem Lawal, has shown that he’s a force to be reckoned with in Oke-ogun come 2023 general election, MOUTHPIECE NGR reports.

This was due to the high rate of defections, which occurred after Hon. Ezekiel Oladoja from Tede, an ex-Accord party stakeholder in Atisbo Local Government, led about nine leaders from each faction to Barrister Bayo Lawal’s home in Ibadan on Sunday to announce their return to the People’s Democratic Party.

Recall that the deputy governor of Oyo state recently harvested major APC leaders from Irepo Local Government into the PDP after winning the support of all the royal fathers in Oke-ogun, including a number of socio-cultural organizations.

It seems that the camps of the two leading candidates for the governorship of the state, Senator Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Adelabu Penkelemes of Accord party, are worried about the deputy governorship candidate of the PDP’s rising support among women and young people in his senatorial district.

MOUTHPIECE NGR understands that since Bayo Lawal was named the deputy governor of Oyo state, both disgruntled PDP members and other disgruntled Oke-Ogun opposition party members have seen him as a unifying factor to support the re-election of Governor Seyi Makinde.

According to the group’s spokesman, Hon. Sola Ogundiya, who spoke on behalf of its overall leader in absentia, Hon. Ezekiel Oladoja said that the Peoples Democratic Party was faced with many challenges before the group defected to Accord, but now that Barrister Bayo Lawal is on the ground, they have no choice but to fully return back and work tirelessly for the re-election of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Ogundiya revealed that the reason the factions from Oke-Ogun embraced him as their leader was because they trusted him to uphold their interests.

In his reaction, the deputy governor, Bayo Lawal, thanked them and urged them to work hard to ensure that the PDP won the upcoming election.

He emphasized openness, fidelity, and integrity as rewards for compensation, giving them the assignment to walk the talk of their commitment and see to it that they organize heavily in support of all the party’s candidates.

“Yo can be a politician and still work for God. It is those who don’t have experience that will say this is a work for paradise and hell fire irrespective of professions.

“You can also be fully involved in politics and you will do what will make you to be loved by God. So, we must always be plain with what we are doing and also be very much concerned about humanities.”

“With my age and experience, only few things can make me sacred. And I can assure you that the leadership of the party under the watch of Governor Seyi Makinde will protect the interest of everyone.”

“Once again, you are fully welcome to PDP. We will always be there for you,” he said.

Among others in attendance include Mr Solomon Ojedokun from Ago-Aare ward 8; Mr Olanrewaju Joba from Ago-Aare Ward 7; Hon. Sola Ogundiya from Tede Ward 2; Hon. Dele Kehinde from Owo Toro Ward 9; Prince Razaq Aderibigbe from Ward 5 Ofiki; Mr Koleosho Elijah from Ago-Aare Ward 10; Mrs Funmilayo Atinsola from Ward 9 Sabe; Mr Omisande from Tede Ward 2 and Mr Adeola Abiodun from Irawo Ward 3.
