Be equitable, fair and trustworthy— Oyo Deputy Gov tells Muslim Surveyors & Valuers 

The deputy governor of Oyo state, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal has charged the Muslim Surveyors and Valuers to be equitable, fair and trustworthy in dealings with their clients.

He urged them to borrow a live from the conduct of Prophet Muhammad, (SWT) whom according to him, lived a successful life.

The Deputy Governor stated these on Saturday at the maiden Ramadan lecture organized by Muslim Estate Surveyors and Valuers’ Association of Nigeria (MESVAN) Oyo state branch held at the Mini Mapo hall Ibadan west LCDA secretariat, Alesinloye, Ibadan. 

He charged on equitability and fairness stating that the topic of Al-AMANAH encompass several meanings and such should be reflected in all Muslims who is going to acocunt for all his deeds. 

Lawal, who said the topic, Al-AMANAH, is apposite, further advised the Muslim Estate Surveyors and Valuers to be fair and just as their profession, like most others are prone to corruption. 

According to him, the profesison is not well regulated with the way quacks have taken over the profession in the country, advising them on evaluation. 

He stressed that his position is not to castigate but an opportunity for the Surveyors and Valuers to address these shortcomings adding that with the government developmental stride in the state, the task of making evaluation should be easier

Lawal explained that there is no where in the state particularly from Ibadan to Iseyin or other areas that is not cloned, urging hem to do something about the issue of quacks in their profession as soon as possible. 

He said: “Most like other professions, there are times Surveyors keep people’s money. And as you can see, the guest lecturer has just described Muhammed as a trustworthy man and one who is fair and just. 

“So, as a Muslim, we need to borrow a live from the conduct of prophet Muhammad. With this, we would be able to meet our lord in the best form as we are all going to account for all our deeds. 

“You need to approach the agency of Housing Corporation and also help you to look for land to build your association structure. 

So, once again, I pray that almighty Allah would be with us all. And as Ramadan is a month of cleansing, I believe Allah will forgive all our sins and also accept our deeds as an act of Ibadah. 

“Please, don’t let us betray the trust of our Muslim brothers and those we engage in businesses because there is accountability. 

Lagos state is choked likewise Ogun state, but here in oyo state, we have land that we need to make the adequate use of it. So, kindly encourage your members and colleagues to approach Housing corporation which is under my supervision. 

“Interface with the necessary agency of government to take advantage of the benefit of the government. I therefore pray that Allah will see us through the next Ramadan mosque,” he said. 

Earlier in his remarks, the guest lecturer, Alhaji (Sheikh) Habeebulah Adekunle Buhari, the chief Imam, Bashorun-Akobo Muslim Community, who spoke on the topic, Al-AMANAH, described it as fairness, justice and equity. 

He maintained that Prophet Muhammad Muhammad is the real symbol of Amanah, whom during his time, laid a good example and also seen as Al-Ameen (trustworthy man)  in Makkah. 

The lecturer urged everyone to make a good impact and contributions in their immediate environment that will make people to trust them particularly the Estate Surveyors who plays major role in lands and properties procurement. 

He stated that their concern should be about life after death stressing that the topic ‘Al-AMANAH’ encompasses a lot of meanings including justice, equity, fairness, and trustworthiness as stated in the holy Quran. 

While adding that faith also plays an important role in the life of every Muslim, he maintained that such would smoothen relationship between buyers and traders or estate surveyors. He encouraged Muslims to be liberal and tolerant and also to be conscious of what their return to Allah would be. 

Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni, the chairman of the Muslim Community of Oyo State, stated in his submission that only people of excellent character can propoagate Islam. 

Sanni urged the Muslim community to encourage Muslims to continue promoting Islam in the best manner possible, pointing out that despite the fact that many bishops in the last election made false predictions that a Christian would be elected as president, they never stopped asking their members to be attending church. inquiring about their predictions.

Among those at the event include Founder, Qibla Group of Schools, Alhaji Dr. Ademola D. Munir; Chairman Ibadan West LCDA, Hon. Adigun Tajudeen; Alhaji Adetola Shote; Mallam (Prof) Bature; Professor Dawud Olatokubo Noibi; High chief Abdul Rasheed Ghazaal Adegoke and Alhaja Chief Sidiquat Bolade Aderibigbe.
