EASTER: Like Ramadan, Afonja distributes food items to over 500 Christians in Ogbomoso, calls for fervent prayer

Former Oyo State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof. Abdulraheem Rapheal Afonja has again brought smiles to over 500 people in Ogbomoso, as he donated food items, to celebrate Easter.

The Easter package were distributed among over 500 beneficiaries which cut across residents and indigenes alike in Ogbomoso, MOUTHPIECE NGR has learnt.

According to Prof. Afonja, the donation was to show love to the good people of Ogbomoso, adding that the little would cushion the economic effect and make Easter celebrations worth the while.

“It will be unfair on our part for us to celebrate Easter while some are starving, hence the need for this package. However how little it may be but the show of love was the major reason for this.

Afonja also noted that his team has ensured the distribution was managed effectively to reach those in genuine need at this time of the year.

Speaking at the gathering, a beneficiary of his gesture, extolled Afonja’s kind virtues and prayed that God continue to bless the donor.

“We really appreciate this kind gesture and we also pray God grants her heart desires. We also ask that may the spirit of all those he provided and distributed the food for, pave greater ways for him”. He said.

Prof. further charged Christians in Ogbomoso, Oyo State and across the country to exemplify the teachings of this Easter seasons and pray to Almighty God for prosperity and guidance for Makinde-led administration.

It should be recalled that the Ex-Commissioner, as part of his continuous philanthropic gesture since 5 years ago, also deemed it fit to celebrate the victory of Governor Seyi Makinde about three weeks ago with distribution of foodie Ramadan packages for indigent Muslims.

About 100 bags of rice, and other foodie bags as relief packages were distributed equitably among Muslims to commemorate the arrival of Ramadan Kareem.
