History is made in Oyo state | Otunba Yomi Ojo

1999 ushered in an enduring Democracy in Nigeria after years of Military rule, Oyo state has been under the Civil rule of different politicians from the geopolitical zones of the state.

The State has witnessed uncertainties associated with an unstable political environment which reduced the pace of economic development. The two major parties being in conflicting positions disrupt the stability of the Country.

Tracing down memory lane, the state Civil Servants and Pensioners had shared in lack of leadership focus bore out of parochial interest rather than the development of the State. This has hurt the economy of the State where the welfare of Civil servants and Pensioners became taboo and traditional institutions were relegated to the background.

We could recall how the good people of the state lost their means of livelihood to the bad policies of the past administration. Legitimate properties and businesses of the citizens were destroyed by the bad policies of the then government in power.

The political gladiators in the state believed that Gov. Seyi Makinde’s administration compared to the immediate past government has set a standard for peoples’ friendly policies, and leadership based on tenets of Democracy and constitutionalism which has resulted in all-round growth and development in d six geopolitical zones.

Massive and gigantic infrastructural projects have increased the productive capacity of the State in terms of agricultural development, Educational advancement, and integration of urban and rural activities through a good road network in just 3 years. Oyo has become the haven of investors.

Oyo State has also grown beyond being a State for politicians without a second address or politicians that lack economic direction and brazen disregard for rule of law.

Recently, a sociopolitical group stated that  Engr. Seyi Makinde needs another four years to complete his developmental drives in the state, especially the completion of the  75km Ibadan circular road, 76.67km Ogbomoso-Iseyin road, 34.85km Oyo-Iseyin road, 58km Omi Adio- Ido- Eruwa road, 46km Saki -Ogbooro- Igboho road, 38km rehabilitation of Igbora- Igangan- Iganna road and other ongoing projects in the state.

The group reminds the good people of the state, that the price of construction of these roads is 152 million naira per kilometer under the present government compared to 1 billion naira by the past administration, which shows that the government of PDP under Engr Seyi Makinde is prudent, accountable and transparent.

In view of the above, I am advising the good people of the state to continue to support the present government under Engr. Oluseyi Makinde and not allow APC or other political party mislead them in the forthcoming 2023 elections.

It is important to emphasize that Citizens make use of their PVC and resolve never to go back to the dark ages of APC mal-administration in the state.

God bless our dear Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
