Ex-Japan Prime Minister, Abe, shot during campaign, confirmed dead
Ex-Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe has been confirmed dead.
“Former prime minister Abe died at a hospital in Kashihara city, Nara, where he was receiving medical treatment”, said national broadcaster NHK.
MOUTHPIECE NGR observes that Abe was shot on Friday morning while giving a speech ahead of Sunday’s parliamentary election.
Abe collapsed after receiving two bullets from behind; from a man.
The deceased politician was addressing people in front of Kintetsu Railway’s Yamato-Saidaiji Station.
The former leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), was canvassing and campaigning for a LDP candidate.
He was taken to the Nara Medical University Hospital in Kashihara City.
The Nara City Fire Department revealed that former prime minister was in cardio-pulmonary arrest before being rushed to the hospital.
Abe, the longest-serving PM, relinquish power in August 2020 due to a relapse of chronic intestinal disease.
The police have apprehended 41 year old Tetsuya Yamagami, a former member of the Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF) for attempted murder.
