VIDEO: Mammoth crowd as Irepo Vice-chairman sworn-in following Santana’s suspension

MOUTHPIECE NGR reports that the Vice-chairman of Irepo Local government, Hon. Joel has been sworn in as the new acting chairman of Irepo Local Government following the suspension of the embattled Chairman, Hon. Sulaimon Lateef Adeniran Santana.

Joel took the oath of office in the local government secretariat, where observers, religious leaders, and PDP members and leaders were present, on Thursday evening.

Recall that the Oyo State House of Assembly had on Tuesday suspended the executive chairman of Irepo Local government, Hon. Sulaimon Lateef Adeniran Santana during its plenary session, over allegations put up against the Chairman.

Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, who made the pronouncement, directed the Vice chairman, Hon. Joel to take over the council administration activities pending the outcome of the investigation’s committee’s report.

Following Santana’s sacks, speculations surfaced that the Chairman ought to have been removed long ago for his complicity in fraud.

A PDP member who serves as the Senior Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs to Oyo deputy Governor from Kishi, Mr Badmos Adesola told MOUTHPIECE NGR that the acting chairman was sworn-in by the Head of Local Government Administration, Irepo LG.

According to Olusola, the party leaders thanked Governor Seyi Makinde and his deputy, Bayo Lawal, for the reforms that took place and for the selection of a receptive acting chairman.

After the swearing-in event, the party’s leaders and members, he said, marched to Iba of Kishiland’s palace to seek his royal blessings.

Among those present include the PDP Chairman, Mr Odejide; Alhaji J.S Amodu; Alhaji Tijani Omupo; Senior Special Assistant to Oyo Deputy Governor on Projects, Alhaji Ogede Ayinde and Senior Special Assistant to Oyo Deputy Governor on Political matters, Yusuf Ajagbe.

Others were Alhaji Rasaq Kobad; Alhaji Bale Awodi; Chief Imam of Kishi; CAN president, women leaders; Ward chairmen; PDP members; youths, guard operations among others.
