Oyo deputy gov inspects Bodija Estate Recreation Centre, two other Projects

….Says projects almost ready for commissioning

On Thursday, the Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Barrister Abdul-raheem Adebayo Lawal, inspected the construction site of the Bodija Estate Recreation Center in Ibadan, the state capital.

The project, which is a component of Governor Seyi Makinde’s efforts to improve sporting facilities, is described as a mini-stadium with space for a football field, a long tennis court, a children’s play area, and a lounge, among other amenities.

Addressing journalists shortly after the inspection, the Deputy Governor who maintained that the project is almost in completion said the chairman of the company is expected to import additional materials from Turkey to complete the project.

He reiterated that hopefully before the end of first term of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, the project may be ready for commissioning probably in the next two months.

According to lawal, on our own part overseeing the Housing Corporation, we will work hard with the contractors to ensure that the promises offered are kept so that this would be another epochal achievement of this administration.

He stressed that the facility had been in existence for decades without any serious attempt to transform it into what it was meant for by the Oyo state Housing Corporation Bodija Estate.

Lawal added that with the completion of the facilities, not only will it add to the value of the estate but it will also provide a big source of revenue generation for both facilitators and Oyo state government.

“This inspection tour is just to ascertain the level of work and the preparedness of the contractor to deliver the facility as soon as possible.

“Unfortunately, we have lost about a year out of the contracted period. So, we discount the period given to the contractor to deliver the project and we are trusting that in the next two and half months when we pay another visit to this place, we would be smiling”, he said.

Similarly, the deputy governor also re-inspected a 45-unit Project Scope and an 11-unit Wood et’al housing projects which is almost ready for commissioning.

The 11-unit Wood et’al project was the Housing Corporation’s guesthouse, which had been long abandoned until the inception of Makinde’s led administration, which didn’t allow the area to continue to deteriorate by entering a partnership with a developer “Wood et’al” that came with their money and Housing Corporation provided a land with a memorandum of understanding on the project with the setting of Bodija estate which is essentially for Housing scheme to sprout.
