Excitement as Poultry farmers in Irepo LG receive SAfER packages

…Express gratitude to Makinde, deputy

… Commend Oyo Edu Commissioner, Professor Abdulone

No fewer than 19 farmers in Irepo local government on Monday received SAfER packages from Oyo state government as part of measure being put in place to cushion the effect of subsidy removal.

MOUTHPIECE NGR understands that the Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER), which Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde introduced, aims to improve the lives of Oyo State residents by enabling them to become wealth producers rather than merely providing a band-aid solution.

The poultry farmers in Irepo Local Government, who were led by Mr Wahab A Saliu, disclosed that 152 bags of maize were given to 19 farmers in the local government to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal especially now that festive period draws near.

He thanked Governor Seyi Makinde and his deputy, Bayo Lawal for the SAfER relief packages, pointing out that the involvement of the packages will help poultry farmers be ready for the Yuletide season sales, particularly since feed is becoming increasingly expensive due to the economic challenges of the country.

Salihu added that the state government has taken a deliberate action to defeat poverty in the state by attacking its root cause as well as providing input support for farmers.

The recipients also praised Professor Abdulwaheed Adelabu Solihu, the Commissioner for Education, for his unwavering commitment to seeing to it that their needs are met at the secretariat’s disbursement centre.

According to Adekunle Rowland, who is the Director of Input services at the Ministry of Agriculture, since Sunday and even in the wee hour of today, the Education Commissioner has been reaching out to him to make sure that his people from the Irepo local government receive prompt attention.

He emphasised that Kishians are really fortunate to have such excellent representation, adding that he made sure to attend to them as soon as they arrived at the secretariat to pick up the SAfER packages.

Earlier in his remarks, Professor Abdulwaheed Solihu, the Commissioner for Education, who also met with the farmers at the Secretariat, noted that His Excellency, Seyi Makinde, had taken into consideration the significance of utilising the SAfER packages to boost the state’s economy and promote sustainable development.

He stated that the reason behind the intervention by the Governor is unmistakable, adding that it is to achieve sustainable development.
