FCT Police Arrest Man For Raping 12-Year-Old Girl Inside Car In Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command’s anti-kidnapping unit has arrested a man for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl inside a car in Abuja.

The operatives, on October 2, 2026, while on routine patrol around the Airport Bridge Taxi Park, observed a fully tinted navy blue Volkswagen vehicle with registration number KMC567LQ parked with its windows wound up.

According to the command, the vehicle was shaking, and officers suspecting foul play approached and opened it, only to find one Zayyanu Halilu allegedly raping the minor.

The suspect was promptly arrested and the victim was rescued.

FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had, on several occasions, lured and sexually abused the underage victim in the same vehicle parked at the same location, with threats to “deal with her” if she told anyone.

She said medical examination revealed that the victim is about three months pregnant as a result of the abuse.

According to her, the victim is currently receiving medical care and assessment, while the suspect remains in police custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and pay close attention to the whereabouts, safety and welfare of their wards at all times.
