Abductees’ Release: Hon. Ezekiel Ajani Oyedepo Commends Gov. Makinde, Security Operatives, Religious Leaders
A former two-term Executive Chairman of Oriire Local Government, former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, and APM chieftain in Oriire Local Government, Hon. Ezekiel Ajani Oyedepo, has expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, for his exemplary leadership, prompt intervention, and unwavering commitment to the safety and security of the people of Oyo State, which culminated in the successful release of the recently abducted victims.
Hon. Oyedepo noted that Governor Seyi Makinde demonstrated genuine concern throughout the difficult period by ensuring that every available resource and institution of government was mobilized in support of the rescue efforts. He described the Governor’s leadership as reassuring, decisive, and worthy of commendation, saying it reflects a government that places the welfare and security of its citizens above every other consideration.
He also commended all government appointees, members of the Oyo State Executive Council, honourable members of the National and State Assemblies, local government chairmen, political leaders, and other public office holders who devoted their time, influence, and efforts toward ensuring the safe return of the abductees. According to him, their unity of purpose and commitment provided hope and encouragement to the affected families during the trying period.
Hon. Oyedepo further applauded the various security agencies, the Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes, hunters, community security volunteers, and everyone who worked tirelessly—often through sleepless nights—to secure the freedom of the abductees. He acknowledged their bravery, professionalism, and dedication to protecting lives despite the enormous risks involved.
He equally appreciated the prayers and moral support offered by Muslim clerics, Christian pastors, traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society groups, and well-meaning Nigerians whose unwavering faith and encouragement sustained the families and strengthened the collective resolve for a successful outcome.
While celebrating the safe release of the abductees, Hon. Oyedepo expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the two teachers who tragically lost their lives during the unfortunate incident—one reportedly killed in the bush while in captivity and the other on the school premises. He described their deaths as painful and heartbreaking, praying that Almighty God grants their souls eternal rest and gives their families, colleagues, and the entire community the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Describing the release of the abductees as a victory for unity, resilience, and collective responsibility, Hon. Oyedepo congratulated the parents and families of the victims on their safe reunion with their loved ones. He prayed that God would continue to protect the people of Oyo State and grant wisdom, strength, and success to all security personnel and leaders working tirelessly to maintain peace and security across the state.
He concluded by calling on residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and supportive of security agencies by providing timely and credible information that will help prevent future security challenges. He also urged all stakeholders to remain united in the collective fight against insecurity, emphasizing that safeguarding lives and property is a shared responsibility.
