Some supporters of Ibadan-based broadcaster and owner of Agidigbo FM, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, have accused him of double standards and demanded accountability over an alleged N200 million fund said to have been received during a recent visit to the Presidency.
The aggrieved supporters alleged a sudden shift in Hamzat’s stance on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, claiming he had previously criticised the government’s performance but became less critical after the visit.
The controversy followed an allegation by a popular caller and commentator, Baba Igbinsola, who claimed that Hamzat collected N200 million during his visit to the Presidency.
One supporter said: “He told us that Tinubu has not done well and made us believe he was on our side. But after receiving funds when he visited the Presidency, he couldn’t explain how he spent the money until Baba Igbinsola said he collected two hundred million.”
Another supporter said Hamzat’s inability to provide a detailed account of the alleged fund had eroded trust among his followers.
The supporters said their demand was not out of hatred but for transparency from a man they regard as the voice of the common man.
As of press time, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat has not publicly responded to the allegation. Efforts to reach him for comment were unsuccessful.
Note: This report is based on allegations by supporters and a caller. The claim of N200 million has not been independently verified.
