Ona Ara Local Government witnessed a significant milestone on Thursday as the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, commissioned the Engr. Seyi Makinde Marriage Registry and Multipurpose Hall built by the administration of the Executive Chairman, Dr. Temitope Kolapo Glorious.
The facility, named in honour of Governor Seyi Makinde, is designed to provide a dedicated space for marriage ceremonies, official engagements, social events and other community activities.
Speaking at the commissioning, Dr. Glorious acknowledged Governor Makinde’s leadership and development vision, saying the progress recorded at the local level remains connected to the broader agenda of the state government.
The event attracted prominent political leaders and stakeholders, including the APM governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi and his deputy, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, alongside members of the APM State Executive and other party leaders.
Also in attendance were local government chairmen across the Greater Ibadan City — Hon. Sherif Aderemi Adeojo (Ido), Dr. Kolapo Temitope Glorious (Ona Ara), Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen Morenikeji (Lagelu), Hon. Wole Akinleye (Akinyele), Hon. Akeem Akinwale Olatunji (Oluyole) and Hon. Sikiru Sanda (Egbeda).
Director General of the Presidential and Governorship Campaign, Dr. Nureni Adeniran and other political leaders were also present.
Following the commissioning, a stakeholders meeting was held at the newly commissioned hall, bringing together government representatives, APM leaders and local government chairmen for deliberations on party and political matters.
Beyond serving as a venue for marriages and official programmes, the facility is expected to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Ona Ara Local Government through daily bookings and other approved services, creating a sustainable revenue source while providing affordable services to residents.
According to the chairman, the project represents an investment in public infrastructure with both immediate community benefits and long-term administrative and financial value.
