…Installs 30 billboards across 5 LGAs

..Recruits over 1,000 volunteers for house-to-house campaign

Former Oyo State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof. Abdul-Rahmon Raphael Afonja, has donated two buses and ten motorcycles to strengthen the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) grassroots campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to Afonja, the buses are intended to boost mobilisation across Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, Oriire, Surulere and Ogooluwa Local Government Areas in support of Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential ambition, the Bimbo Adekanmbi/Open Salawu governorship ticket, and other APM candidates in Ogbomoso zone.

Afonja, who had earlier installed about 20 billboards across the five LGAs, also recruited over 1,000 volunteers to conduct a house-to-house campaign for Makinde and the Bimbo/Open ticket.

Disclosing this on Thursday during an interview on IRI FM’s Gbagede Oselu programme, Afonja recalled that when he was appointed Commissioner for Works and Transport in 2019, Governor Makinde demonstrated magnanimity by completing projects embarked upon by previous administrations.

He said the governor’s continuity agenda, which ensured no project was abandoned, was exemplary and worthy of emulation at the national level.

Afonja noted that Governor Makinde will reset Nigeria with the work he has done in Oyo State, particularly in road infrastructure connectivity, building over 800 schools, boosting agriculture through agribusiness, and enhancing ease of doing business.

According to him, these achievements form part of his conviction to support the governor as the next President of Nigeria and Bimbo Adekanmbi/Open Salawu, who he believes will sustain the legacy in Oyo State.

He said: “Governor Makinde has shown that governance is about continuity and service. He did not abandon projects inherited from his predecessors. He completed them and added his own. That is leadership Nigeria needs at this time”.

The former commissioner also commended Governor Makinde for prioritising the welfare of pensioners and workers after years of neglect under previous administrations.

He described Makinde’s payment of pensions and gratuities as a restoration of dignity to senior citizens.

The APM chieftain, however, called on the people of Oyo State, particularly residents of Ogbomoso zone, to rally round the APM and support the presidential aspiration of Governor Makinde and the Bimbo Adekanmbi/Open Salawu governorship ticket in the forthcoming election.

He expressed confidence that with the buses, motorcycles, billboards and over 1,000 volunteers already deployed, the APM’s message of continuity, development and good governance would reach every ward and household in Ogbomoso zone.
