Ahead of the 2027 governorship election, the Soun of Ogbomoso, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Adeoye Olaoye, Orumogege III, has openly declared support for the deputy governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, describing him as “a son in whom I am well pleased.”
The monarch made the declaration when he received the APM deputy governorship candidate at his palace a few weeks ago.
He said Open Salawu is not just a son but a palace chieftain, the Babalaje of Ogbomosoland, insisting that no one deserves his support more.
His words: “I am not a politician, but Open is a chieftain of the palace, the Babalaje of Ogbomosoland, and there is no one more deserving of my support than him. This is a son in whom I am well pleased. I am very happy with his nomination, and I will support him because I know his contributions, impacts, and what he has done towards the development of Ogbomoso.”
The Soun equally described Open Salawu as a silent operator in Ogbomoso, noting that was the reason he threw his weight behind him.
“Being a chieftain of the palace, there is no way we won’t support you. And I pray that God will crown your effort with success,” he added.
The monarch, however, urged Open Salawu to use his opportunity well, as former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala did, noting that Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola and Alao-Akala did well for Ogbomosoland and that Open Salawu should also strive to be remembered for good.
