*“Grassroots Development Will Be Priority” – APM
The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, alongside his running mate, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, on Wednesday, continued their statewide thank-you tour with visits to party leaders and members in the Ibadan Southwest and Ibadan Northwest constituencies, where they expressed appreciation for the support received during the party’s nomination process.
Addressing party faithful, Adekanmbi thanked leaders and members of the APM and its allied political platform for their unwavering commitment, dedication and support, describing their solidarity as the foundation for the party’s preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APM governorship candidate urged members to remain focused, united, and steadfast in working for the party, warning them against being swayed by what he described as “fake promises” from opposition parties.
He assured party members that his administration, if elected, would respect the supremacy of the party and operate an inclusive government that would carry along leaders and members across all levels.
Adekanmbi also pledged to work closely with the grassroots to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every community in Oyo State, maintaining that grassroots development would remain a key priority of his administration.
Speaking at the event, elder statesman and Arole Iba, Alhaji Nureni Akanbi, called on members of the party and its alliance to remain united and committed to securing victory in the 2027 elections.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the PDP and Alliance in Oyo State, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, commended Governor Seyi Makinde, party leaders and members of the APM in the Ibadan Southwest and Northwest constituencies for their commitment to the alliance, urging them to continue working together to strengthen the political platform.
The party senatorial candidate for Oyo South, Hon. Olajide Stanley Odidi Omo, appreciated the support of party members, urging them to sustain the momentum and mobilise support for the APM ahead of the 2027 governorship election
Earlier, the Oyo State Chairman of the APM, Otunba Fagbemi Adegbenro Peters, praised party leaders and members in the two constituencies for their resilience, consistency and dedication to promoting unity within the APM and the alliance.
The event was attended by several party leaders, including Alhaji Akeem Azeez, Governor Seyi Makinde’s aide; Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, PDP State Deputy Leader; the APM General Secretary, Hon. Demola Oke; and former Oyo State Liaison Officer in Abuja, Hon. Busari Olayemi.
Also present were the party’s candidates for various elective positions, including the APM candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Olajide Stanley Odidiomo; the party’s candidate for the Ibadan Southwest/Northwest Federal Constituency, Mogaji Fagbemi; the APM candidate for Ibadan Southwest Constituency II, Yusuf Adebisi; the candidate for Ibadan Southwest Constituency I, Olakunle Akinsete; and the party’s candidate for Ibadan Northwest Constituency, Ibikunle.
