WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION

Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola (SMATO) has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving access to potable water across Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency.

– Construction of 36 new boreholes across various communities.

– Rehabilitation and repair of over 150 existing boreholes.

– Beneficiary communities include Ogunba, Gaa Jooro, Ilogbo, Iranyin, Olugbon Palace, Iwoso Mogele, Ile-Abu Oloye, Ajaawa, Iresa Palace, Begbaji, Ayegun Yemetu, Otamokun, Onikoko, Ataapa, Lagbedu, Olukunle, Ebila, Iresadu, Gambari, Ladanu, Alagbede, Idewure, Ilu-Ode, Odo-Oba, Okasan, Gbede, Aserawo, Oko, Yakoyo, Atooda, Patiko, and Alapata Eleyin communities.

EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMMES

Elderly Support Programme

– Over 200 elderly men and women empowered with deep freezers and generators to improve their livelihoods.

Youth Empowerment

– More than 100 youths benefited from the first phase of cash empowerment programmes.

– Second phase featured specialized training in:

  – VSAT Technology

  – Security Management

  – Disaster Management

  – Emergency Response

  – Remote Sensing

  – Television and Telecommunications

– Participants also received financial support upon completion of training.

Agricultural Empowerment

– Over 150 youths trained in modern agricultural practices during the third phase of empowerment programmes.

Palliative Distribution

– Distribution of food items and relief materials to over 5,000 constituents across the federal constituency.

EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT

Education remains a key pillar of SMATO’s developmental agenda.

– Facilitation of six classroom blocks across the constituency.

– Facilitation of three additional classroom blocks in Mayin Ward.

– Establishment of a fully equipped Library/ICT Centre in Arolu Town, Surulere Local Government.

– Establishment of a fully equipped ICT Centre in Mayin Town.

– Facilitation of a Library/ICT Centre in Iresapa Town.

– Facilitation of a Library/ICT Centre in Pontela-Olode, Ogo-Oluwa Local Government.

– Payment of JAMB registration fees for 100 students across Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency.

– Distribution of educational materials to over 60 schools across the constituency.

HEALTHCARE INTERVENTIONS

– Facilitation of a Primary Health Care Centre at Ijana Ayegun, Opete Ward 9.

– Donation of over ₦5 million towards the development of Oko Teaching Hospital.

– Facilitation of a Solar Mini-Grid Project at Oko Teaching Hospital to ensure reliable electricity supply.

INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

Significant investments have been made in roads, electricity, and public infrastructure.

– Construction of 2 kilometres of asphalt road in Oko Town.

– Construction of 2 kilometres of asphalt road in Odo-Oba Town.

– Provision and installation of a 500KVA transformer in Gambari Town.

– Provision and installation of a 500KVA transformer in Iware, Surulere Local Government.

– Rural electrification projects benefiting between 15 and 20 communities.

– Installation of solar-powered street lights across Iresa and Arolu Wards.

– Financial support for the construction of the ongoing Odo-Oba Police Station.

– Completion of the Oko Dam Water Supply Project.

ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

Market Women Support Programme

– Over 200 market women received ₦100,000 each as business support grants.

Farmers’ Support Programme

– More than 3,000 farmers received fertilizers, knapsack sprayers, and other farming inputs during the first phase.

– Over 6,000 farmers benefited from the second phase of agricultural support through the distribution of fertilizers, sprayers, and other farm tools.

EMPLOYMENT AND JOB CREATION

Through strategic facilitation and advocacy, employment opportunities have been secured for constituents.

– Over 50 youths recruited into the Nigerian Army.

– Over 20 youths recruited into the Nigeria Police Force.

– Two constituents employed by the Solid Minerals Development Fund.
