PHOTOS: I’m satisfied— South West Representative NDSF, Abayomi welcomes flying Eagles 

The South West representative for the Nigeria Deaf Sports Federation (NDSF) and a member of the Nigeria Deaf Football Association, Honourable Oyedeji Olusegun Abayomi, showed his support for the men’s national squad of the Nigeria Deaf Eagles by welcoming them at the Abuja Airport. 

The Nigeria Deaf Eagles’ impressive success with 13 players has the Honourable Minister for Youth and Sports, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, ecstatic with the team’s performances. 

The minister urged the young Nigeria Deaf Eagles lad to remain focused, saying their future is bright.

He said: “I want to appreciate and celebrate the Flying Nigeria Deaf Eagles for making Nigerians Disability Community happy and proud at the World Cup Deaf Football Championship in Malaysia.

“During and after the successful outing of the Eagles at Ogun State, it was not easy training but they were trying to improve to show that they are lover of football. 

“I celebrate Nigeria Deaf Eagles and others with their team Spirit during and after the competition at the 4th World Deaf Football Championship in Malaysia.”

The minister, who was very happy that 6 African countries Participated as Senegal came 3rd while Nigeria came 11th Position, added that “our boys are trying. We are African as one family.”

In his appreciation, Hon. Abayomi expressed his profound gratitude to the organizer of the Malaysian Deaf Sports Association, all the teams, DIFA Members as well as the ICSD Vice President for Thier efforts.

He also expressed his gratitude to his boss, Mr. John, the DAFC Executive and Secretary General, who rescued the Nigeria Deaf Eagles players and two coaches by saving them and by speaking with the Malaysian organising committee to allow Nigeria to participate.

According to him, if not for the intervention of DAFC Executive Secretary General, Nigeria won’t have been able to participate due to late registration fee.

He added that the DAFC secretary keeps sending different link online for Nigeria and African to be able to watch every game including himself who also watched the game on television. 

“I want to also seize this opportunity to let you know that the world saw your quality and leadership skill on and off the pitch”.
