Omitutun 2.0: Makinde expresses gratitude to Allah, thanks Muslim community for support 

The Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, has expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and the Muslim community for their support over the overwhelming victory in the March 18th governorship election.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal was joined by members of transition committee headed by Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi as well as other immediate past government functionaries when they visited the Oja’oba central mosque for Juma’at service. 

While speaking, the deputy governor said they were visiting the mosque to thank Allah for the resounding victory in the 2023 governorship election, noting that it is crucial to start the Omituntun 2.0 by thanking Allah for the successful completion of the previous four years, which will come to an end on Sunday. 

He stated that the entire people of Oyo State could attest to the good leadership displayed during Governor Seyi Makinde’s first term, and as a result, they felt appreciated for the manner they stood their ground in support of the Governor’s re-election. 

Lawal said the electoral victory was so overwhelming and added that the governor had sent him to seek for their support in prayers in Omitutun 2.0. 

He also expressed gratitude for the manner the people came out in large numbers to show their support for the governor in the last election. 

He urged the muslim community to continue supporting Governor Seyi Makinde in prayer so that he may effectively carry out the promises he made during his electioneering campaign. 

According to Bayo Lawal, our administration, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, has always supported the welfare of Muslims. 

He noted that the governor had started renovations on the Oja’oba mosque to prevent water disturbances during the rainy season. 

The deputy governor praised God for the governor’s life and the way he has been able to positively alter Oyo state, saying that Governor Seyi Makinde’s excellent acts over the last four years had undoubtedly led to the governor’s election as the vice chairman of NGF. 

He mentioned that the Oyo state government is completely prepared for the hajj pilgrimage and that it is prepared to inspect ongoing procedures in camp while he prayed that the Omituntun 2.0 will be a blessing to all of the residents of Oyo state.

Earlier in his sermon, the Chief Imam of Oja’oba Central Mosque, Sheikh Abdul Jeleel Abubakr Agbotomo Kekere, congratulated Governor Makinde on his re-election victory. 

The Chief Imam also commended the governor for visiting the mosque to express gratitude to Allah for his recent victory. 

The Aare Musulumi of Yoruba land, Edo and Delta state, Sheikh Daud Akinola, however, congratulated Governor Makinde on his electoral victory and also described his deputy, Bayo Lawal, as a very gentle and a man of humility who is capable of complementing the efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde. 

He prayed Allah to guide Governor Seyi Makinde to pilot the affairs of the state better than Omituntun 1.0.
