PHOTOS: Why LAUTECH banned students’ cars from entering campus

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, on Wednesday, issued a memorandum stating the Management’s decision to restrict movement of vehicles in the University, in a bid to curtail motor traffic accident.

The Memorandum, which was signed by the Institution’s Registrar, Dr. K.A Ogunleye, declared the Management’s decision on movement of vehicles in the University.

“The University Management at its regular meeting held on Wednesday March 22, 2023 deliberated on the occurrence of motor traffic accident in the Campus”.

The Memo further listed the conclusions which are, “Vehicles owned by students are hereby banned from entering the University Campus, Vehicles with no registration numbers are no longer allowed into the campus, roadside parking of vehicles should stop forthwith”.

MOUTHPIECE NGR gathered that the decision was basically because of over speeding and reckless driving of some students especially those who are under the influence of alcohol.

It was learnt that the recent case of accident that involved about three vehicles on campus was the reason the senate took the decision.
