Covid-19: Surulere Chairman, Gbadamosi distributes food items, Others to South LCDA residents (photos)

The Caretaker Chairman of Surulere South Local Council Area, Hon Gbadamosi Maroof has commenced the distribution of staple foods and other relief materials to the vulnerable people in the council. 

Hon. Gbadamosi commenced the distribution  on Sunday to cushion the social and economic effects of the CoronaVirus pandemic on the less privileged across the council. 

The humanitarian gesture featured the distribution of raw food items like yam, rice, beans, garri, yam flour, semolina, beverages, Indomie, Milk and other palliatives which cut across the council, Mouthpiece NGR reports. 

Speaking with Mouthpiece NGR, the media aid of the Chairman, Mr Olayinka said the distribution of the relief materials started today where the community, association and ward leaders were called to roll out the stimulus packages to the vulnerable and the poorest of the poor in their respective communities.

He recalled that on the eve of the outbreak of pandemic COVID-19, the honourable Chairman sponsored jingles and media sensitization, community sensitization as well as the distribution of hand sanitizers, nose cover, washing gadget and other preventive materials to the constituents. 

Olayinka said the Chairman did not stop in his efforts to fight and prevent the spread of the pandemic by sanitizing the environment and clearing refuses in various community to maintain good hygiene. 

“Humanity should be the first priority of all political office holders particularly at a trying time of pandemic Corona Virus like this. This is part of the reason the Honourable Chairman deemed it fit to distribute the food items after distributing safety materials like hand sanitizers, gloves, face masks and some other preventive materials for the people on the eve of the outbreak. 

The chairman promised to ensure that the interest of the people comes first and be well protected at all time, “he added. 

Appreciating the chairman, the people implored him to continue the good work he has been doing since the inception of his administration.
