APPLY: INEC Opens Portal for Recruitment of Ad-hoc Staff for 2027 General Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its online portal for the recruitment of ad-hoc staff for the 2027 general election.

The commission said interested and eligible Nigerians can apply through the INECPRES — INEC Portal for Recruitment of Election Staff.

According to the portal, the application window will close on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.

INEC is recruiting across several categories, including Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers, Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), and Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH).

Available Positions

-Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO):* Public/civil servants on Grade Level 10-14 and eligible INEC staff not engaged in other election duties.
-RAC Manager:* Heads of schools or staff on Grade Level 07 and above in institutions or public buildings hosting RAC centres.

Presiding Officer (PO)/Assistant Presiding Officer (APO):* Serving NYSC members, penultimate-year students of federal or state tertiary institutions with IT knowledge, staff of MDAs, former corps members and eligible INEC staff.
-Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH):* Applicants with the required IT background and eligibility for the category.

The commission also requires applicants to meet other eligibility conditions, including not being a member of a political party or having openly demonstrated support for any candidate or party. Applicants are generally required to reside in the state selected, except for RATECH applicants.

How to Apply

Interested applicants are to visit the official INECPRES portal to create or update their profiles and select the applicable category before submitting their application.

INEC advised applicants to review the eligibility guidelines carefully and use only its official channels for the exercise.

The recruitment is part of the commission’s preparations for the 2027 general election, with thousands of temporary personnel expected to be engaged for various electoral duties.
