Senate Confirms Four Nominees Rejected By Saraki-Led 8th Senate

The Senate on Thursday confirmed four nominees as Commissioners in the board of  Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), Mouthpiece NG reports.

President Muhammadu Buhari had on July 10 sent a letter to the senate, requesting the confirmation of the four nominees for the appointment.
The president’s request was contained in three letters read by Senate President Ahmad Lawan on the floor of the hallowed chamber last Tuesday.
Buhari based his request on section 8 (1) of NCC act and section 5 (2) of NIPSS act; presenting four nominees for the NCC and one for the NIPSS.
“In accordance with section 8 (1) of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) act 2003, I write to forward the under listed names of nominees for confirmation by the senate as non-executive commissioners of the Nigeria Communications Commission,” the president said.
The nominees are: Mr Uba Maska, Executive commissioner (North west) who was reappointed, Aliyu Abubakar, Non Executive commissioner (North East), Prof Millionaire Abowei Non Executive Commissioner (South South) and Abdul Azeez Muhammed Non executive commissioner (North central).
Aliyu Abubakar who is to represent the Northeast was rejected in 2016 when Senator Bukola Saraki was the Senate President.
He was dropped then over what the previous Senate called “vague Curriculum Vitae.”
