Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal, has assured that the state government will continue to support community development with an additional 2,000 solar lights per local government area.
He also disclosed that the government will appoint Special Assistants (SAs) and Supervisory Councillors across wards to accommodate aggrieved members of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Barr. Lawal stated this on Saturday during the party’s reconciliation meeting held in Ibarapa town hall.
Commending local government chairmen in the zone for resolving issues even before the party’s reconciliation meeting, the deputy governor said he was pleased with the development.
He noted that he had held similar reconciliation meetings in Ogbomoso and Oyo zones, and lauded the people of Ibarapa for resolving their differences.
“There cannot be progress without issues. This reconciliation meeting is aimed at resolving any lingering crisis that may affect the chances of the party in the forthcoming election,” he said.
According to Barr. Lawal, efforts are ongoing to appoint members of the party from each ward to balance interests and pacify aggrieved members.
He added that Governor Seyi Makinde has embarked on the construction of Primary Healthcare Centres across the 351 wards in the state, urging any ward without a health centre to contact the appropriate authorities.
Barr. Lawal, who is also Chairman of the State Boundary Committee, assured that Oyo State will not cede any part of its land to Ogun or any other state.
He urged party leaders in Ibarapa to maintain unity and hold joint party meetings to ensure victory for APM candidates, including governorship candidate Bimbo Adekanmbi, in 2027.
He, however, urged the people of Ibarapa zone to vote massively for Governor Makinde as president, Bimbo Adekanmbi as Governor, as well as other candidates of the party in the forthcoming 2027 election for continuous development in the state.
Earlier in his remarks, the APM governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, assured party members that the deputy governor had noted all their demands, including solar lights and grading of rural roads.
He said his administration would adopt a bottom-up approach to ensure that development reaches the grassroots.
“Everybody should go and work for the party, vote for our presidential candidate, senatorial, House of Reps and House of Assembly candidates. After victory, we can then discuss positions,” Adekanmbi said.
In his goodwill message, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo, appealed for the swift deployment of the approved solar lights, noting that it would complement epileptic power supply ahead of the elections.
He also called for grading of rural roads.
On his part, Engr. Kolawole Shehu, candidate for Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, who was received with applause, assured that APM will deliver.
He said he had facilitated development in over 300 communities in the constituency through street lights and road grading projects.
Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, alongside the lawmaker representing Ibarapa North/Central, appealed for forgiveness over any past wrongs and called on members to work for the party’s success.
The APM senatorial candidate for Oyo South, popularly known as Odidiomo, however announced the donation of 1,000 solar lights across the three local governments in Ibarapa, as well as boreholes and road grading to complement state government efforts.
He urged the people of Ibarapa to question what his opponent, Rep. Remi Oseni, has done for them in the past few years.
“It is your money, collect it from Oseni who has done nothing as a Reps member,” he said.
The event was attended by Oyo Commissioker for Youths and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, APM Chairman Campaign council, Hon. Nureni Adeniran, Alhaji Double T, and a host of others.
