Peller Flags Off Free Medical Outreach in Iseyin, Says Leadership Must Prioritize Welfare
Former federal lawmaker and founder of Pellercare Foundation, Hon. Shina Peller, has said true leadership must prioritize human welfare before seeking political mandates.
Peller stated this on Friday during the flag-off of the Pellercare 360 Community Impact Tour at Aseyin Ojude Oba Market Square, Iseyin.
The outreach, themed “Alaafia De Ile Wa,” delivered free medical services to thousands of residents from Iseyin and surrounding communities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Peller said politicians must abandon self-serving campaigns in favour of genuine community care.
“Before we ask for their votes, we must ask and care about their health,” he said, noting that accessible healthcare is a fundamental right, not a luxury.
The one-day event featured four clinical zones: the Women’s Health Pavilion, Men’s Health Corner, Elders Honour Clinic and Child Health Festival.
Beneficiaries received diagnostic screenings, consultations, minor procedures and free medications.
Central Coordinating Doctor for Pellercare 360, Dr. Williams Edet, said the multidisciplinary team handled hundreds of cases ranging from hypertension and diabetes screenings to maternal, fertility and breast examinations, as well as geriatric and pediatric care.
He said referral pathways were created for patients requiring further management.
Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the intervention.
72-year-old Pa Rasheed Adewole, who was attended to at the Elders Honour Clinic, said the free treatment and drugs eased his financial burden.
Mrs. Adijat Salim, 38, commended the thoroughness of personnel at the Women’s Health Pavilion, while Mr. Taiwo Ogundele, 45, said doctors detected his high blood pressure early and provided immediate treatment.
Mrs. Comfort Adewale, 29, who brought her children to the Child Health Festival, praised the medical team for its dedication.
Organisers said following the successful flag-off in Iseyin, the tour will move to Ogbomoso Town Hall in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area.
They described the initiative as part of Hon. Peller’s long-term agenda to transform grassroots healthcare delivery across Oyo North.
