Adeleke’s Re-election Challenged as APC, PDP File Petitions at Osun Tribunal

The re-election of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, is being challenged at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal following the filing of separate petitions by the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The two petitions were pasted on the notice board of the tribunal secretariat in Osogbo on Monday, formally kicking off the legal process over the August 15 governorship election.

Secretary of the tribunal, Pefe Belemore, confirmed that the petitions had been filed to contest the outcome of the election.

“The display of the petitions on the notice board is the first step before service of processes on the parties and commencement of proceedings,” Belemore told _VeryNigerian_. He had earlier said the notices would be displayed before noon on Monday.

At the opening of the tribunal on Monday, Belemore and other officials of the secretariat were present as preparations were made for proceedings to begin.

Both the APC and PDP are contesting the declaration of Adeleke as winner of the August 15 poll.

The APC’s petition, marked EPT/OS/GOV/01/2026, was filed by its candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji. The respondents are Governor Adeleke, the Accord Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The PDP’s petition, marked EPT/OS/GOV/02/2026, was filed by Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola. The respondents are Adeleke, INEC and the Accord Party.

The filing of the petitions is expected to lead to a detailed review of the conduct and results of the election as the tribunal proceeds with hearings.
