‘I Am in Shock, Still in Hospital’ – Prince Ashanke Reacts to Akala Express Demolition, Heads to Court

Prince Oloyede Asawale Ashanke, whose property along Akala Express, Ibadan, was recently demolished by the Oyo State government, says he is in shock and currently receiving medical care following the incident.

Speaking on Thursday, Ashanke insisted that all documents he submitted to the government and to the Ibadan Property authority are genuine and were issued by the appropriate authority.

He said the matter is already before the court and accused the government of demolishing the property without a court order.

“All the documents I submitted are genuine documents issued by the authority that has the capacity to issue them. If they have further allegations, we have submitted ourselves to the jurisdiction of the court,” he said.

He alleged that the demolition was carried out while the case was still pending at High Court 17, Iyaganku, and without any directive from the judge.

“To my surprise, while we are in court and my lord has not said anything or given any directive on this matter, they went and destroyed my property worth millions without the order of the court,” he stated.

Ashanke, who said he is acting on legal advice, declined to comment further on the substance of the case.

He added that he has additional documents and a voice note he intends to present in court. According to him, the voice note contains a recording of an agent allegedly negotiating and offering money for him to surrender his title to the land.

He also claimed there is a dispute over ownership of the setback between Ibadan Property and the federal government.

Prince Ashanke further alleged that the Oyo State government had withheld some of his documents from the public.

He also claimed that the land is now being put up for sale after which some of their agents allegedly offered him ₦5 million to surrender the land before his defection to Accord.
