Osun 2026: APC Chieftain, Seriki Adisa, Warns Ikire Residents Against Voting Opposition, Says “Don’t Cross The Gutter On Election Day”

Another chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State, Mutali Adisa, has warned residents of Ikire who do not intend to vote for the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, not to “attempt to cross the gutter” in the town on election day.

Adisa, the Seriki of Ikire, made the statement on Tuesday while addressing APC supporters in Ikire, the hometown of the party’s flag bearer.

In a video obtained by _SaharaReporters_, the APC chieftain expressed confidence that Oyebamiji would win the August 15 governorship election, saying the candidate had already secured victory and only needed a strong percentage of votes in Ikire.

“We are sure of victory given all the work we have done in the campaign. Ambo is sure of victory. What he needs is percentage in Ikire. He has won already,” Adisa said.

However, while addressing supporters, he issued what appeared to be a warning to residents who would not support the APC candidate.

“We should however tell those who are not willing to vote for Ambo the truth. They should not even try to cross the gutter on election day in Ikire,” he said in the video.

*Rising Concerns Over Inflammatory Rhetoric*

The statement comes amid growing concerns over inflammatory rhetoric and alleged threats by political actors ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for *Saturday, August 15, 2026*.

On Wednesday, human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, said he and colleagues had petitioned the governments of the United States, United Kingdom and Canada to impose visa restrictions on Senator Francis Fadahunsi over alleged incitement of violence against Accord Party members.

Speaking on _Arise TV_, Adeyanju condemned what he described as an “unacceptable escalation” in political rhetoric ahead of the poll. He said the petition was aimed at seeking sanctions against Fadahunsi over remarks alleged to have encouraged political violence.

*Police Summon Senator Fadahunsi*

On Tuesday, _SaharaReporters_ also reported that the Osun State Police Command summoned Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, over an alleged statement made during an APC campaign in Ilesa in which he was heard threatening to “kill” members of the Accord Party.

In a letter dated *August 11, 2026*, the police directed Fadahunsi to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, in Osogbo on *Wednesday, August 12, at 11:00 a.m.*

The invitation, signed by Samuel Etaifo Erale, Commissioner of Police in charge of elections in Osun State, said the senator was expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged statement.

The latest remark by Seriki Adisa has further heightened concerns over the conduct of political campaigns in Osun State, with stakeholders calling for restraint and peaceful conduct ahead of Saturday’s election.
