Saki East PDP Leaders Visit Oyo Deputy Gov, Reaffirm Support for Makinde
Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, on Monday, received a delegation of PDP leaders from Saki East Local Government Area, who reaffirmed their unwavering support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership ahead of the 2027 general election.
The leaders, led by Alhaji Owookola Rabiu from Ogbooro, expressed their solidarity with the governor and his deputy, emphasizing that they are united behind their leadership.
They commended the Deputy Governor for making the Oke-Ogun zone proud with his performance and loyalty to Governor Makinde, while appealing for his engagement with local government chairmen to ensure regular party meetings and further strengthen the party in the zone.
The leaders also urged Governor Makinde and the party leadership to select credible candidates ahead of the 2027 general election to ensure the party’s victory.
While commending the Makinde administration for its development initiatives in the Oke-Ogun zone, the leaders noted that the Governor had performed creditably well over the past six years and deserved commendation.
They noted their awareness of ongoing projects in the Oke-Ogun zone, including the road network connecting the entire zone, and appealed for the construction of the Agbonle road among other projects.
The Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, who expressed delight at their visit, said the visit is in demonstration of the party’s unity behind Governor Makinde ahead of the 2027 election.
Barr. Lawal acknowledged that challenges are inherent in politics, sharing his personal experience of leaving APC in 2018.
He highlighted the current administration’s efforts in providing job opportunities to people in the Oke-Ogun zone and Saki East, urging leaders to reach out to him for assistance.
The Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of party unity in Saki East and the Oke-Ogun zone, stressing that unity is key to strength.
According to Barr. Lawal, there are ongoing road construction projects in the Oke-Ogun zone, and the Governor is also committed to commencing additional road projects, including the Agbonle road and Igboho-Saki road, among others.
He expressed optimism that all projects initiated by the Makinde administration would be completed without abandonment.
Barr. Lawal however assured that the PDP leadership would not impose candidates on any local government, emphasizing that leaders would choose their representatives.
He noted that Saki East is united behind Governor Makinde and promised continued financial support for the party in the Oke-Ogun zone.
The Deputy Governor, who also expressed surprise that some individuals were leaving for APC, stated that PDP is a party that treats everyone equally, unlike APC, which he described as being driven by arrangements and queueing.
He urged the PDP leaders not to fight with those leaving the party, noting that they would likely return after realizing their mistake.
He thanked the leaders for their visit and encouraged them to focus on strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 election. He also reminded them to inform members about the upcoming party convention scheduled for November 15.
Also present at the meeting were Honorable TT, Chairman of Chairmen in Oke-Ogun zone from Irepo Local Government, as well as the Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Hon. Abdul-Waheed Adelabu, who echoed the importance of unity ahead of the 2027 election and praised the Governor’s efforts in developing the Oke-Ogun zone.
Among the leaders were Alhaji Jimoh Rewire from Sepetri, Alhaji Ogundayo Muhideen; Alhaji Folawiyo Rabiu; Pa Tiamiyu Maye; Pa Jimoh Salami; Mr Soliu Yahaya; Alhaji Shittu Ajenfuja; Hon. Muritala Omope; Mr Yusuf Lawal and Pa Jimoh Supo.
