Hijrah 1448 AH: Agboworin Celebrates Islamic New Year, Prays For Peace, Economic Prosperity
The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East Federal Constituency, Rep. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has congratulated Muslims across Oyo State, Nigeria and around the world on the commencement of the New Islamic Year, 1 Muharram 1448 AH, which corresponds to June 16, 2026.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Assistant on New Media, Ibraheem Aremu, Agboworin described the beginning of the Hijrah year as a significant moment for spiritual reflection, renewed faith, and a recommitment to the values of peace, justice, compassion, and selfless service to humanity.
He urged the Muslim faithful to emulate the virtues exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), particularly perseverance, sacrifice, tolerance, and unwavering trust in God. According to him, the lessons of Hijrah remain relevant in inspiring individuals and communities to pursue unity, righteousness, and collective progress.
The federal lawmaker also called on Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for enduring peace, national cohesion, and economic prosperity. He stressed that the country’s challenges can be overcome through sincere prayers, responsible leadership, and the shared commitment of citizens to nation-building.
Agboworin further reaffirmed his dedication to delivering quality representation and people-oriented initiatives across Ibadan North-East and Ibadan South-East, pledging to continue supporting policies and programmes that improve the welfare of his constituents. He wished Muslims a blessed and rewarding Hijrah 1448 AH, praying that the new year brings abundant mercy, good health, and greater opportunities for all.
