Air Force Strikes Kill 12 Terrorists, Destroy Vehicle

The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai carried out precision airstrikes on terrorist positions in Borno State on June 7, killing 12 insurgents and destroying a vehicle hidden under thick vegetation, military sources said.

The operation took place during an armed reconnaissance and air interdiction mission over the Ali Sherifti general area, a military source told Zagazola Makama.

Air assets operating under the call sign “Guardian” identified eight terrorists gathered under a tree. Further surveillance revealed four more terrorists near a vehicle concealed beneath dense foliage, the source said.

After positive identification, the air component struck the first group, killing all eight.

“Subsequent battle damage assessment indicated movement by four additional terrorists within the vicinity who attempted to flee the area,” the source said.

A follow-up strike targeted the second group and the vehicle. The vehicle was destroyed, and no further movement was observed after the strike, according to the assessment.

Military sources said the mission aimed to weaken terrorist capabilities, disrupt mobility, and deny insurgents freedom of action across the North-East.

Military authorities said sustained coordination between air and ground forces has produced significant gains against terrorist elements in the region. Troops will continue to pressure terrorist enclaves to restore peace and security in affected communities, they added.
