Makinde Reconstructs Abandoned HOS Quarters

In line with its policy to develop the Civil Service and employ more competent workers to carry out the policy directions of its administration, the Oyo State Government has employed over twenty thousand workers in an exercise that continues with the employment of an additional one thousand by the State Civil Service Commission.

At its 14th Executive Council Meeting held yesterday, the Council approved the reconstruction of the official quarters of the State Head of Service for the sum of Two Hundred and Fourteen Million, One Hundred and Fifty-two Thousand, Four Hundred and Twenty-six Naira, Seventy-one Kobo (₦214,152,426.71) only.

The construction will be completed in six months.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the neglected official resident of the Head of Service will signpost the respect this administration has, not only for the Civil Service but for its leadership.

The repair of the old structure which has been in a state of disrepair and uninhabitable over the years to a modern and conducive edifice befitting of the new lease of life which the State Civil and Public Servants now enjoy.

The council also approved the improvement of Iwo road roundabout and expanded the scope of work on the ongoing reconstruction of Adegbayi junction – bus terminal – Iwo road interchange along Ibadan – Ife expressway.

The expansion is necessary to ease the consistent high traffic volume which becomes unmanageable during the morning and evening rush hours and to relieve the roundabout of flooding during rainfall.

Likewise, the council approved a free medical mission across all the 33 local government areas of the State in a bid to reduce mortality from communicable diseases across all the LGAs.

The initiative will include free surgeries, eye care services, screening for detection of cervical cancer and health talks.
