World Town Planning Day: OYHA Celebrates the State Practitioners

The Oyo State House of Assembly has congratulated all the State Town Planners,  Urban Designers and Communities as they join their counterparts across the Globe to celebrate this year World Town Planning Day.

The World Town Planning Day, is an annual event set aside to celebrate at every 8th of November, and deliberate on how good Planning improves lives of the people and the society at large through adequate shelter,  job creation,  playing together among others. 

According to the Statement issued in Ibadan  by the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Media, Public Affairs and ICT, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, described the Town Planning as the most salient   means used effectively to cope with lingering issues of unsustainable development,  population growth and climate change. 

He said “Town Planning is very crucial in the development of every Community , City and Society,  hence the need to collaborate with all stakeholders in ensuring its purpose is not defeated in any Physical Structure either by the individuals,  Organisations or Government”

“The experience of varying disasters across the world has now more than ever, brought to fore the significance of Town Planning and the need to plan for human existence, particularly at urban areas” 

He stated further that the Town Planners has demonstrated capacity for resilience which those without Town Planning do not possess, added that its  important to embrace Town Planning services from Global to National and  local levels. 

“It is on this note that we wish all Nigeria Town Planners,  especially the Pace setting Practitioners happy celebrations of 2023 Town Planning Day , wishing them many years of celebrations of resilience,  hard – work and God protection” The Statement concluded.
