Oyo Govt to Collaborate Lagos State on Quality Education Service Delivery, Expansion of Education Sector

Oyo State Government has expressed its readiness to partner with Lagos State Go ernment on Quality Education Service Delivery and expansion of the education sector in the state.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu stated this during a Fact – Finding Visit of the ministry to Ministry of Tertiary Education, Lagos State .

The commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry ,Mr. Olusanjo Adeniyi, said the visit was to understudy Lagos state Ministry of Tertiary education.

He explained that the ministry is being run in Lagos State as a full-fledged ministry while in Oyo state is being run as a department under the ministry of Education, Science, and Technology , adding that the collaboration is inevitable.

He revealed that the team were in Lagos to tap from the initiative of the Lagos State on how to maintain high-quality education and to build conversation around leveraging technology to improve the teaching and learning process.

According to him, Our visit to the Ministry of Tertiary Education , Lagos State, was to tap from Lagos state initiative to maintain high-quality education in Oyo state, particularly measures to build conversation around leveraging technology to improve teaching and learning process.

“Having collaboration with Lagos State will go a long way to developing education in Oyo state.
In Oyo state, Tertiary Education is handled by a department of the ministry of education whereas in Lagos State, it is the whole ministry that is being devoted and committed to tertiary education, we believe that through our interactions today, we would go back and see how we can do things better in our state.

While speaking on the importance of collaboration, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Lagos State, Honourable Tolani Sule, said that the visit was very apt and meant to exchange ideas for the development of education.

He hinted that it was necessary for the states to collaborate and share ideas to ensure that education continues to grow in both states.

Hon. Tolani commended the Oyo state team for taking time out of their tight schedule to pay a fact-finding visit to Lagos State, saying this will further cement the relationship between the two states.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Lagos State,
Mr. Kasali Adeniran, said the Ministry is a new ministry and endowed with human capital and material resources needed for good performance.

He said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has invested heavily in infrastructure and quality tertiary education, that was the reason he restructured the Ministry of Education, by splitting into the Ministry of Basic Education, and the Ministry of Tertiary Education.

The fact-finding team later visited Lagos State University of Science and Technology.
The team that went on visitation included Permanent Secretary/Inspector General of Education,(IGE), Ibadan Zone three, Mr Adelani Binuyo,Director of Higher and Continuing Education,Mr.Adewale Oluwole,Director Finance and Account, Mr.Olufisayo Akintunde and host others.
