Bridge The Gap: Kiajer Youth Empowerment Initiative Seeks Support To Keep Vulnerable Students In School
Abuja, Nigeria: Kiajer Youth Empowerment Initiative (KYEI) is appealing to individuals, corporate organisations, philanthropists and development partners to support its Bridge the Gap Education Support and Mentorship Programme, a five year initiative designed to support 50 vulnerable secondary school students through educational support, mentorship and personal development.
The programme is built on a simple but powerful belief: every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and build a better future, regardless of their background or financial circumstances.
For many vulnerable students, the barriers to educational success extend beyond the classroom. Limited learning resources, financial challenges and inadequate access to guidance and mentorship can affect their academic progress, confidence and future aspirations. Bridge the Gap seeks to help address these challenges by providing sustained support and encouraging students to recognise their potential.

Taking Education and Mentorship to Students
The first session of the Bridge the Gap programme is currently ongoing, with activities and mentorship engagements taking place at JSS PEYI and JSS Lower Usman Dam in Bwari, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Through these engagements, students are being encouraged to embrace learning, develop confidence and understand the role education can play in shaping their futures.
The mentorship theme, “Unlocking Your Potentials Through Learning,” reinforces the importance of education as a pathway to success. The initiative seeks to inspire students to remain committed to their education, identify their strengths and make informed decisions about their future.
Rather than being a one time intervention, Bridge the Gap is designed as a sustained five year commitment to educational support and mentorship for participating students.
Fundraising Update: Support Is Still Needed
To implement the first session, KYEI set a fundraising target of ₦6,569,310 to support the programme’s planned activities and educational interventions.

So far, the initiative has received US$1,486 through GoFundMe and ₦47,000 through OnCrowd, representing approximately ₦2,069,584 in combined contributions, based on the organisation’s current conversion estimate.

This represents approximately 31.5% of the first session’s fundraising target. Fundraising remains ongoing as the organisation works to mobilise the resources needed to meet the target and sustain the programme.
KYEI is therefore calling on well meaning Nigerians, members of the diaspora, private sector organisations, philanthropists, foundations and development partners to contribute towards this cause.

Every donation, regardless of size, can help the organisation move closer to its fundraising goal. Members of the public can also support by sharing the appeal, introducing potential donors and exploring partnership opportunities with KYEI.

Kiajer Youth Empowerment Initiative invites individuals, organisations and development partners to become part of this journey. Through collective action, the barriers limiting educational opportunities can be reduced, and more students can be given a fairer chance to succeed.
Together, we can bridge the gap between potential and opportunity.
