BREAKING: Ojo Makanjuola named as Chairman and Deputy Chairman of House Committees

Hon. Ojo Sunday Mokanjuola, popularly known as Smato, representing Surulere/Ogo-Oluwa Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives in Abuja, has been named as the chairman of the Nigeria Parliamentary Friendship Group Pakistan, at the Nigeria Green Chamber.

The development followed an outcome of the resolution of the plenary sitting held on 27th of July, 2023.

During the plenary, the first time lawmaker was also appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Solid Minerals.

The two appointments are in recognition of his dedication and commitment to service.

In a statement made available to the media on Friday, Smato said that the timing of the two appointments was related to the campaign pledges he made to his residents that they would have better representation that would bring great honour to the constituency.

He emphasised that with this new duty, he is in a strong position to influence the two committees’ policies and objectives.

Smato also expressed his gratitude to the good citizens who make up his constituency as well as to all PDP members and supporters, including all stakeholders, for their support during the revolution and their confidence in him to protect their convictions.

He pledged to serve with unwavering dedication, promising to be their steadfast advocate and ensuring that their interests are reflected at both the national and international levels.

The federal lawmaker also stated that his constituency will see a significant improvement with numerous projects over the course of the next four years and that he would not fail to represent them in the National Assembly’s green chamber by advocating for appropriate projects that the public will benefit from.

“To our Amiable Governor Engr Oluseyi Makinde, who has always made the impossibility possible, even when it seems to be hopeless, we say a big thank you, and we so much appreciate the democratic system of Government in the state.”

Earlier in his remarks, the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Tajudeen Abass, however commended the efforts of of all the newcomer Honorables who were given this rare privilege to serve as both Chairman and Deputy Chairman of several House Committees.

According to Hon. Tajudeen Abass, it is uncommon to be given such a tremendous opportunity while also being a first-timer. This great opportunity could only arise as a result of the local leadership’s self-plenary devotion to global diplomacy.

“Furthermore, Smato understood the importance of playing a crucial part in embracing the potential and difficulties that come with fostering bilateral relations between Nigeria and Pakistan in his capacity as chairman of the House Committee on Parliamentary Friendship Group Pakistan.

“His diplomatic prowess and dedication to fostering mutual understanding and cooperation position him to strengthen and achieve shared goals as a trailblazer, promising to be a beacon of progress and unity for his constituency, Oyo State Nigeria.”
