Agboworin Hosts Hundreds Of BoyeNation Loyalists, Says Defectors’ll Not Regret Joining APM
Hundreds of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), known to be loyalists of Alhaji Ajiboye Sangodade (BoyeNation), who newly joined the Allied People’s Movement (APM), were, on Tuesday, hosted by the lawmaker representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency, Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin, at his residence in Felele, Ibadan.
The members and other political supporters were drawn from the two local government areas that made up the constituency.
Hon. Adeoye Sangodade, who represented Alhaji Ajiboye Sangodade (BoyeNation) at the event, led a large number of members of the group to the gathering, which turned into a political jamboree with party leaders, supporters and members of various political groups in attendance.
Welcoming the new members to the APM, Agboworin expressed delight at their decision to join the party, saying he was overwhelmed by the large turnout.
He said their movement to the APM showed their desire to belong to a political platform where they could benefit from the opportunities available to party members.
“I am happy that you joined us and I know you are here because of the love you have for our party. I didn’t know you would be this much and I am overwhelmed with joy. I believe you will reap dividends of democracy in our party,” Agboworin said.
The lawmaker, however, acknowledged that it would not be possible to attend to everyone at once, given that the constituency comprises 24 wards, but assured the new members that the benefits of joining the party would reach them.
“There are 24 wards in my constituency and I can’t settle everybody all at once. But I can assure you that the benefits of joining this party would get to your doorstep as we continue in the journey of politics.
“So, I want to urge you to join our party members in your different wards so that you can get whatever benefits they have been getting,” he added.
Agboworin also urged the new members to work for all APM candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that the election would involve candidates contesting at various levels.
“The forthcoming election is not for only House of Reps members. We are voting for the Presidency, Governorship, National Assembly members and State House of Assembly members under our party, APM. So, I urge us to exert ourselves to work for all the candidates of our party,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the Boye Nation leadership, Hon. Adeoye Sangogade said members of the movement were pleased to have found a new political home in the APM.
Sangogade said the warm reception accorded the movement by Agboworin and other party leaders had further strengthened their confidence in the decision to join the APM.
He pledged that Boye Nation would work tirelessly to mobilise support for the party and secure victory for all APM candidates across Oyo State in the 2027 elections.
Also speaking, the APM Chairman in Ibadan North East Local Government, Alhaji Isiaka Fatokun, popularly known as Baba Abuye, welcomed the Boye Nation Movement into the party.
Fatokun urged the new members to regard themselves as part of one political family, assuring them that the APM would provide an inclusive platform where every member would have a sense of belonging.
Some of the new APM members expressed gratitude to Agboworin for hosting and warmly receiving them, describing the lawmaker as God’s representative who was doing well for the people of the constituency.
They praised his performance and commitment to his constituents, while expressing their readiness to support his re-election bid in 2027.
Other leaders who spoke at the event also acknowledged the contributions of BoyeNation and its members, commending them for their decision to join the APM.
They assured Agboworin of their support and promised to mobilise their members for the lawmaker and other APM candidates in the 2027 election.
The gathering, which attracted hundreds of supporters and political stakeholders from across Ibadan North-East and Ibadan South-East, was marked by excitement and celebration as the new members formally joined the APM.
