Q: Can you tell us about yourself?

A: I am Ayoola Samuel Ololade, a prince from Ikoyi Ile in Oriire Local Gov’t, Ogbomoso, Oyo State and I was born in some two decades ago. I am a Hippop and Afrobeats artist.

Q: Can you tell us about your musical journey and how you got started in the hip-hop and Afrobeats genre? Why music?

A: Brought up in a family who takes pride in music. Also, at some point growing up, I suffered cramped limbs which informed me staying at home and most times, got bored and I tried to lay my hands on music of which at first it was for fun. All thanks to my mum! She was instrumental to how I got into the music fully. For me, It’s hippop or nothing; that’s what I’m passionate about.

Q: How would you describe your unique style and sound within the hip-hop and Afrobeats landscape?

A: My style is unique because I’ve decided to sound like myself. I take pride in bringing out the best in myself even though I’m still a work in progress.

Q: What message or themes do you aim to convey through your music?

A: My themes however around life; its do’s and dont’s, its reality, while also focusing on the core interests of my fans.

Q: Who are your biggest musical influencers, both within the hip-hop and Afrobeats genres and outside of them?

A: For the hippop, I have Drake, 50Cent, Jay Z and for the Afrobeats, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Omah Lay, Kiss Daniel, King Perry and Tiwa Savage. They have all greatly inspired me.

Q: Could you share with us any upcoming projects or releases that your fans can look forward to?

Another one “Oluwa mi” released in 2021 and it was about appreciating God over my life. Recently, I released new song titled “Want You”

For my upcoming project with another popular artist, Martin Feelz which is not yet released. Another upcoming work is Caro which is also yet to be released. Hoping to drop them (about three to four songs) soon in an EP.

Q: How do you approach the creative process of writing and producing your songs? Do you collaborate with other artists or producers?

A: I write my songs myself and all I need to write a great lyrics is a beat and then inspiration that helps me create a scenario in my head. I also don’t mind working with song – writers later in my music career because when someone is good at what they do, it is smart to hire them for one’s own good too.

In addition, Yes! I collaborate with other artists because I believe in the mixture of crafts towards achieving a greater success. Then, there’s the fan base multiplication when a good artist works with another. I’ve been working with my ace producer for a while now, Big shout out to Daphlex and also great artists like Diamond Jimma and Martin Feelz who has tried working with me.

Q: Can you share any challenges you’ve faced as an artist and how you overcame them?

A: Well, I’ve faced a lot of challenges as regards how people perceive me on sight. I am a heavily pounced being and I once had a surgery on my leg, used to be a great dancer despite my big body.

Some show promoters have looked down on me and my intelligent craft because of my stature. Some even think I can’t sing well but all of these are even fueling my passion more.

Also, I can remember a day myself and my manager, big shout-out to Ola Swavey, (such a wonderful manager he is) were in Lagos together for a show. We moved all the way from Ilorin to Lagos for this show and when we got there, they almost turned down my performance after I had already been scheduled. However, my manager had it all sorted out one way or the other and the moment I later climbed on the stage, I turned the whole place up. Since then I’ve believed that all my challenges in this musical career will only lead to my greater success.

Q: Which of the artistes would you like work with, if privileged?

A: I’d love to work with many great artistes.  Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage, pheelz, Justin bieber, Drake, Simi, BNXN, Olamide, Fireboy, Rema, Crayon, Mr Eazi , kida kudz, Shane O, Adekunle Gold, King Perry, Teni, Barry Jhay, Johnny Drille, Omah Lay, Joeboy, Zinoleesky,  Fireboy DML, Young Jonn.

Q: What advice would you give to aspiring artists who are looking to break into the hip-hop and afrobeats scene?

A: Upcoming artists should learn the power of a good promotion and that of networking. The road to blow isn’t easy but it is trekkable with the right set of minds and people. Stay with motivated people who don’t find it too hard to keep motivating you till you reach your goals and dreams.
