Councilors Impeach Saki West LG Leader As Soliu Salaudeen Emerges New Leader

Councilors in Saki West local government area of Oyo have impeached the Leader of the House, Mr Fasasi Quadri Amao.

The councilors during their sitting, on Wednesday in Saki directed the impeached-leader to return all properties of the local government in his possession to the Head of Local Government with immediate effect.

The councilors also elected Mr Soliu Salaudeen as the new leader of the House.

These were made known in a resolution made available to newsmen at the end of the sitting. 

The resolution was duly signed by the two-third members of the house who are Mrs Fausat Jinnad Adenike (Ward 02), Fatai Hammed Adebayo (Ward 08), Salaudeen Soliu Abiodun (Ward 01), Raji Ismail Ayiki (Ward 07), Olaniyan Muhideen (Ward 05), Mrs Olawoore Dorcas (Ward 06) and Hammed Saheed Titilope (Ward 11).

The councilors commended the Oyo State House of Assembly on its move to investigate the suspended-chairman, Mr Sarafadeen Omirinde.

They also resolved to support the Acting Chairman, Mr Gbenga Akinola to carry on the functions of the office of the chairman as directed by the Oyo state House of Assembly.

The resolution reads: “The Council at its Plenary  held today June 7, 2023 Resolved as follows:

“1. That the Councillor of ward 3, Hon. Sikiru Mukaila who was on suspension is recalled immediately. 

“2. That the Legislative Council welcome the investigation of the financial impropriety and other offences against Engr. Sarafadeen Omirinde by the Oyo State House of Assembly. 

“3. That the Council impeached Hon Fasasi Quadri Amao as the leader of the House, and nominated Hon Salaudeen Soliu Abiodun as new leader of the house.

“4. That the Council resolved to support the Acting Chairman to carry   the functions of the office of the Chairman in the meantime. 

“5. That Hon. Fasasi Quadri Amao councillor for ward 9 to return all Council properties in his possession as the former leader to the HLGA with immediate effects.”
