PHOTOS: Oyo Deputy Gov, wife attend Oyo Speaker’s mother’s funeral service 

The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal alongside his wife, Chief (Mrs) Ajibola Lawal,  on Thursday, led top government functionaries in the state to the funeral service of late Mrs Justina Ogundoyin, mother of the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, held at St Joseph Catholic Church, Oke Ado, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. 

Recall that the governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, had earlier in a statement signed by his print media, Moses Alao, expressed his condolences to the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin, on the death of his mother.

Makinde described the death of Mrs Ogundoyin as painful and shocking.

He also condoled with the entire Adeseun Ogundoyin Dynasty of Eruwa and the people of Ibarapa land in general.

Makinde further described the deceased who was the Iyaloja-General of Ibarapa land, as a heroine of note among women.

But his deputy, Bayo Lawal, who also paid the Speaker, Rt Hon Debo Ogundoyin, a condolence call at his Iyanganku residence last week, referred to her passing as startling and said that she would be missed. 

Delivering his sermon at the commendation service, Reverend Fr Silvester Odugbemi extolled the virtues of late Mrs Justina Ogundoyin declaring that she lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation. 

Father Odugbemi asked her children to carry on her legacies after highlighting how she helped the church expand and thrive while serving as the finance chairperson for the father’s chapel.

While speaking on behalf of Ogundoyin’s family, the Speaker Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Debo Ogundoyin appreciated the state government delegation led by the deputy governor. 

He assured the congregation that the legacies of their late mother would be sustained.

The church service was attended by Secretary to the State Government, Olubanwo Adeosun, Head of Service, Ololade Agboola, Director-General Due Process Ms Tara Adefope.

Others include Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, Commissioner for Finance, Akinola Ojo, Special Adviser on Political Matter and Strategy, Babs Oduyoye , Permanent Secretaries , children and families of the deceased among others.

Chief Mrs Justina Iyabo Ogundoyin aged 63 died on March 26 after a brief illness.
