Obasanjo’s daughter appointed as NIMASA director

The Governing Board of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA has approved the appointment of second daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Mrs. Olubusola Obasanjo-Akande as Director of the Agency.

The Board has also approved the promotion of 22 Assistant Directors to Deputy Directors, 86 Chiefs to Assistant Directors and 400 other staff to their next grade levels, bringing to a total of 508 newly promoted members of staff, which was ratified during a meeting of the board held in Lagos recently.

Director General of NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh, while congratulating the staffers, noted that the current board was determined to boost the morale of staff members by ensuring the promotion exercise took place as at when due, and charged them to see it as a call to higher performance.

Jamoh said: “I am glad that the agency’s Governing Board has kept faith with the promise to boost staffers morale through annual promotion exercises, which are aimed at ensuring staffers remained committed to the ideals of the agency, while helping the management actualise its mandate. I therefore use this opportunity to congratulate the promoted staffers, and urged them to see the gesture as a motivation to improve performance.”

The promotion exercise is the 4th under the current management led by Jamoh, which came on stream in March 2020.
