PHOTOS: We will re-elect Makinde— Oyo royal fathers tell Bayo Lawal

Oyo State’s royal fathers have endorsed Governor Seyi Makinde’s candidacy for reelection, saying that the current administration has made significant progress in the state’s development during the past three years since it took office.

The Royal fathers who visited Oyo acting Governor, Barrister Adebayo Abdul-raheem Lawal on Friday, felt it was important to express their gratitude to him because, in their opinion, the impact of the current administration’s accomplishments in the areas of road infrastructure, health, agribusiness, and other areas cuts across all zones.

They continued by saying that since the start of this administration, the Oyo state government has paid salaries notwithstanding the status of the economy.

The Okere of Shaki stated that they had purposefully requested the “Thank You” visit to recognize the Oyo State Governor for his efforts to further the state’s development.

“We don’t actually have hospitals in Shaki, he remarked, but after Makinde joined the team, he rebuilt and improved them.”

“The Ibadan to Iseyin Road was also built under the Makine-led administration, and work is still being done on other roads, most notably the Iseyin to Ogbomoso Road and street lighting, among others.”

Oba Francis of Igbon repeated in his submission that it was all the royal fathers who believed it was appropriate to arrange for this event to recognize Governor Seyi Makinde’s support and efforts.

He said, “We are not motivated by feeling or emotion in making our remarks, but we are moved by the governor’s performance during the last three years.”

“We will make sure to re-elect him in order to continue the ongoing development of Oyo state because it takes a good leader and administrator to have done all these projects in Oyo state.”

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Olalekan, stated that Governor Seyi Makinde has the support and blessing of the traditional council in the state and that the royal fathers are proud of his achievements in the state.

While speaking, the acting Governor, Barrister Adebayo Abdul-raheem Lawal firstly observed a minute of silence in honor of all royal fathers who have joined their ancestors.

He said: “I am pleased that the royal fathers stated that they invited the Oyo state administration and not that they were forced to do so.

“They clearly see the actions of the government. Additionally, I am very grateful for their support of Governor Seyi Makinde’s reelection.”

“I believe the goal of this meeting is to recognize our accomplishments over the past three years. I’m here to welcome you heartily on behalf of the governor who spoke with me on the phone. I am aware of the visit and am aware of the situation. We still have a ton of work to do. Please let us know what you believe we can do better, and we’ll take it under consideration.”

Lawal who also expressed his gratitude to everyone who has congratulated him and said that it has never happened in the history of Oyo State for all Oke Ogun leaders to pay him a courtesy call.

He thanked all of the traditional leaders in Oyo State for thinking it appropriate to pay a courtesy call and commend the state government for its accomplishments over the last three years.

He gave them the assurance that they should carry out all government expectations, adding that he had taken note of every detail and would tell his principal when he  arrived.

“I’m glad the royal fathers said they invited the Oyo state administration, not that they were compelled to, as I thought they would have said.”

“They can plainly see what the administration is doing. I also appreciate them greatly for helping me win the reelection of Governor Seyi Makinde.”

“This meeting’s objective, in my opinion, is to celebrate our successes from the previous three years. On behalf of the governor who spoke with you, I’m here to extend a warm welcome to you”.
