Makinde Commissions LAUTECH alumni E-library 

Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, on Thursday commissioned alumni E-library donated by Maigida foundation aimed at facilitating effective teaching and learning.

Makinde, who was represented by the school Governing Council Chairman, Professor Ayodeji Omole said Information Technology was fast becoming the language of today and of the future, stressing that the facility will stir students’ interest in reading and research activities.

The Chairman appreciate the donor and alumni association for being thoughtful of the institution with such an outstanding edifice. 

He remarked that LAUTECH alumni leadership headed by Hon. Onilede Solomon is different from other schools who are only known for the welfare of their members. 

“The uniqueness about this alumni association is that there is unity. The governor must have been here himself but because of an official reasons”,. 

In his words, the global President, Hon. Onilede Solomon noted that the E-library idea was conceived in 2018 at Lagos Chapter’s meeting and was completed within 5 months. 

Onilede appreciate the philanthropic gesture of Maigida as he handed the facility over to the university management. 

While speaking, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Liasu, thanked the donor and members of the university alumni association for deeming it fit to consider the university for this kind of innitiative. 

According to him, we are now in a digital age where the use of technology is an essential material for education. 

“Everything that has to do with E-library will also be supported by the management and will give a full course in supporting the dream of the association. 

In his submission, The Chairman, Maigida Foundation revealed that the project will cost almost 25 million to be fully equipped, reiterating that the E-library will meet the desired goals. 

“As a Liberian, I know how an E-library should be, together with the university management and alumni association, we will make sure it go along with the latest technology modality.”

“The foundation will continue to support with funding like we did before in Nassarawa university”.

In a closing remarks, the Chairman Board of Trustees, Chief Babajide Bewaji appealed to the Governing Council Chairman to assist the institution on transcript.

He said despite being a University of Technology, the university is still having a challenge of Transcript processing.

At the event included the Ex- alumni presidents; Engnr. Festus Alawode, Professor Tunde Olabiyisi, Babajide Bewaji, all Governing Council Members, Dean of Students affairs, Professor Azeem Ige, Academic and Non Teaching Staff, alumni members and host of others.
