LAUTECH alumni sponsors 40 student on scholarship

The Alumni association of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso has sponsored about 40 students on scholarship, Mouthpiece NGR reports.

The students who are indigents would be supported financially for the 2020/2021 academic session.

Mouthpiece NGR gathered that the Alumni Scholarship Board had carefully selected the students through a screening.

Speaking with our correspondent, the alumni global President, Hon. Onilede Solomon said the gesture is to assist indigent students who are on the verge of dropping out due to their over-concentration on work at the expense of their studies.

According to him, the selection was not only based on the fact that a student is indigent but having potential and reasonable academic performance.

Recall that the global president had in 2018 gave N1 million to the LAUTECH Alumni cooperative and investment scheme for members of the association who need financial assistance.

This legacy he has sustained since inception would also afford these sets of students the opportunity to partake in examinations.

When asked if the students would be given cash this time, Hon. Onilede Solomon said that the scholarship board would pay directly on behalf of all beneficiaries to the school kitty.

Onilede added that the Secretary of the Board, Professor Agbaje, would contact the students latest by Wednesday.

The scholarship opportunity would be the third tranche from the end of Alumni association offered to students under the leadership of Hon. Onilede Solomon.

About 20 students under financial crises or les privileged had benefited last year from the scholarship program.
