Dotun Sanusi Hosts Over 20,000 Worshippers on Isese Day

*Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Akanran, Ibadan*, hosted over *20,000 traditional worshippers* on *Isese Day* as adherents of Yoruba traditional religion converged for prayers and cultural celebrations.

The event, hosted by *Okanlomo Oodua and Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi*, featured prayers, cultural displays and traditional rites for *peace, unity and prosperity* in Oyo State and Nigeria.

Special supplications were offered for *President Bola Tinubu*, *APC Oyo governorship candidate Senator Sharafadeen Alli*, the people of Oyo State and Nigeria.

*Call For National Recognition*

Speaking at the gathering, *Araba Awo of Oyo State, Oloye Ifalere Odegbemi*, urged the Federal Government to declare *August 20 as National Isese Day* and observe it annually as a work-free day.

He made the appeal through Senator Alli, who represented President Tinubu.

_“The recognition will further promote the preservation of Yoruba traditional religion, cultural heritage and indigenous values,”_ Odegbemi said.

He added that traditional worshippers remain a vital part of Nigeria’s cultural identity and deserve inclusion in national celebrations.

*Prayers and Dignitaries*

The worshippers prayed for divine wisdom and strength for President Tinubu, and for the peace and progress of Oyo State under Senator Alli.

Chief Sanusi was commended for providing a befitting venue for the historic celebration.

Dignitaries present included *Oniladuntan of Laduntan, Oba Kamarudeen Adebowale*; *President of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori*; *Baale Kuebi Ige*; *Babaloja General, Alhaji YK Abass*; *Iyaloja Saratu Aduke*; and *President of Yoruba Youth Council, Mogaji Alawode Rahmon Akintunde*.

Also in attendance were market leaders, artisans, community heads, JDS support groups and thousands of worshippers.

The event ended with calls on government at all levels to support cultural institutions and recognize the role of traditional worshippers in preserving Nigeria’s heritage.
