Oyo Town Set for First Gated Estate as Royal Colony Partners Housing Corporation

Oyo Town is set to witness a major transformation in its residential housing landscape following the signing of a partnership agreement between Royal Colony Limited, a real estate development company, and the Oyo State Housing Corporation for the development of a modern gated estate in the ancient town.

The initiative, announced by the founder and Managing Director of Royal Colony Limited, Kolade Afeez Ladigbolu, is expected to provide residents and indigenes with access to contemporary housing and modern community infrastructure comparable to residential developments in major Nigerian cities such as Ibadan and Lagos.

Ladigbolu said the project was conceived to address the need for befitting residential estates in Oyo Town and provide an attractive option for indigenes, professionals and investors seeking quality accommodation within their ancestral community.

According to him, the development will comprise different categories of residential properties, including three- and four-bedroom bungalows, as well as larger four- and five-bedroom units targeted at professionals and higher-income earners.

He noted that the project would also cater to Oyo indigenes living abroad and in other parts of Nigeria who wish to return home and invest in property, stressing that the availability of modern residential infrastructure could encourage more people to settle and invest in their hometown rather than relocating permanently to major cities.

Ladigbolu explained that the estate would be developed with modern amenities, including 24-hour security, a well-planned road network, potable water supply, CCTV surveillance, reliable electricity, recreational and children’s play areas, green spaces, a sports centre, mini-mart, pharmacy and a police post, among other facilities.

He said the development was designed to provide residents with a comfortable and secure living environment while also contributing to the economic and physical development of Oyo Town.

The Royal Colony boss further observed that many Nigerians who live abroad or in other major cities often face difficulties settling in their hometowns upon returning due to inadequate modern residential infrastructure.

He said the new project was intended to bridge that gap by providing a standard residential community capable of meeting the expectations of returning indigenes and other prospective residents.

Ladigbolu also disclosed that the groundbreaking ceremony for the project is scheduled for September 28, describing the development as an opportunity for Oyo indigenes, residents and investors to own properties in a modern and well-planned residential community.

The partnership with the Oyo State Housing Corporation is expected to strengthen the project and support the delivery of structured housing development in Oyo Town, while creating opportunities for investment, employment and broader economic activity within the community.

The development, when completed, is expected to mark a significant step in the expansion of modern housing infrastructure in Oyo Town and further position the ancient city as an emerging destination for residential investment.
