Alumni Commends Gov. Makinde on Commitment to Sustainable Development of LAUTECH
The LAUTECH Alumni Association Worldwide has commended the Government of Oyo State, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for its sustained investments in the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) and for the openness, support, and fair hearing accorded the Association during a meeting held with His Excellency on Tuesday night.
The Alumni Association, in a statement made available to MOUTHPIECE NGR on Sunday, expresses its deep appreciation to Governor Makinde for his continued commitment to strengthening the institution through targeted interventions aimed at improving infrastructure, academic standards, and overall institutional stability.
The Association particularly acknowledges His Excellency’s receptiveness to stakeholder concerns and his emphasis on collaborative problem solving.
During the engagement, His Excellency reiterated the critical importance of practical based learning and research as foundational pillars for producing globally competitive graduates, especially in science and agriculture driven disciplines. He emphasized that without adequate practical exposure and research capacity, the quality, relevance, and employability of graduates would be compromised.
In this regard, it was jointly agreed that all critical stakeholders must convene a comprehensive stakeholders’ meeting to develop a workable, sustainable, and consensus driven solution to ensure that the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Iseyin, is firmly established and fully operational. Central to this solution is the assurance that the welfare, safety, and academic needs of both staff and students are adequately addressed.
Furthermore, the meeting resolved that all agreed outcomes, including required materials, infrastructure, and investment commitments necessary to resolve the issues, should be formally documented and signed by all stakeholder groups to ensure clarity, ownership, and accountability.
The identified stakeholders include:
• The Governing Council
• University Management
• Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)
• College of Agricultural Sciences
• LAUTECH Alumni Association
• A Postgraduate Student Representative
• An Undergraduate Student Representative
• Representatives of the Iseyin Community
The LAUTECH Alumni Association Worldwide reaffirms its commitment to constructive engagement, institutional development, and the long-term sustainability of LAUTECH as a centre of excellence in teaching, research, and innovation. The Association remains confident that, with Governor Makinde’s leadership and the collective resolve of all stakeholders, a durable and mutually beneficial resolution will be achieved.
