The campaign tour of Engr. Kolawole Sheu Adedeji (KSA), the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) candidate for the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency in Oyo State, has gained fresh momentum following the defection of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ROCOF to the APM at Orita Eruwa.
During the visit, the new members expressed their commitment to the APM while drawing the candidate’s attention to pressing infrastructural challenges in their community, including a non-functional borehole, a damaged bridge and the absence of solar-powered streetlights.
Responding to the concerns, Engr. Adedeji pledged to facilitate the installation of solar streetlights and personally inspected the faulty borehole, promising its immediate rehabilitation.
He also assured the residents that the damaged bridge would receive attention if elected to represent the constituency at the House of Representatives.
The candidate’s response was welcomed by the new APM members, who expressed satisfaction with his commitments and pledged their support for the party across Ibarapa East Local Government Area.
From Orita Eruwa, the campaign team proceeded to the NASFAT Assembly in Eruwa, where Engr. Adedeji and his entourage received a warm welcome from the Muslim community led by Alhaji Mutairu Isaq and Alhaji Akeem Olore.
During the engagement, NASFAT leaders outlined the needs of their ongoing building project, prompting the APM candidate to donate and immediately transfer N2 million to support the construction.
In addition, following a request by Alhaji Akeem Olore for a borehole to provide water for ablution, Engr. Adedeji assured the congregation that one would be installed on the premises before the January 16 general election.
Appreciating his gesture and commitments, members of the Muslim community gathered around the candidate to offer prayers for his electoral victory and future political aspirations.
The campaign tour subsequently moved to New Eruwa, where KSA met with members of the Oju-Oja Base, a group comprising mainly youths and commercial motorcyclists.
During the interaction, the group presented its concerns, particularly the need for adequate street lighting around its base. In response, Engr. Adedeji promised that his team of engineers would immediately commence the installation of four solar-powered streetlights to address the concern.
The commitment was warmly received by members of the group, who expressed appreciation and pledged their support for his candidacy in the forthcoming elections.
The candidate later concluded the tour in Ido Local Government Area, where he attended the Adult Harvest Celebration of All Saints Anglican Church in Owode as the chairman of the year’s harvest.
As part of his support for the church, Engr. Adedeji pledged and immediately transferred N2.1 million to its account.
In recognition of his participation in the celebration, the church presented him with a cutlass to symbolically harvest a bunch of bananas, an act representing fruitfulness, abundance and a successful harvest season.
The day’s engagements featured political mobilisation, interactions with community stakeholders and financial support for religious institutions, alongside commitments to address pressing infrastructural needs across the federal constituency.
In total, Engr. Adedeji announced financial support amounting to N4.1 million for the NASFAT building project and All Saints Anglican Church, while also making commitments concerning borehole rehabilitation, solar-powered streetlights and the damaged bridge in Orita Eruwa.
