Tinubu to Nigerians: Criticise Me, But Don’t Lose Faith in Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to keep believing in the country despite criticism and disagreement with his government.

In a nationwide broadcast Friday to mark 27 years of uninterrupted democracy, Tinubu said democracy fails when citizens doubt the process. He described the National Assembly, judiciary, press, and civil society as the guardrails of the nation.

“Criticise me, disagree with me, but never stop believing in the nation,” he said.

“To our young people, Nigeria is your home and your future. Build here, work here, and eat here. Every great nation was built by those who stayed to solve problems, not by those who abandoned ship,” Tinubu said.

He also saluted security agencies and traditional and faith leaders for their roles in peace and nation-building.

“To our forces, police, and intelligence services, Nigeria salutes your sacrifices. To our traditional rulers, faith leaders, and community heads, thank you for your support of peace and reconciliation,” the president said.
